We had an awesome holiday weekend. Very busy and very fun. The kids camped out in our back yard in a tent, we grilled three days in a row, of course the kids made way too many smores, we spent the afternoon at the pool, we went to the fireworks and we had friends over Saturday night for drinks and sat around our fire pit talked until the early A.M.
Good times! How about you, how was your weekend?
My daughter and I walked with her Brownie troop in The light Up the Night parade on Friday night. The parade started at 6:30 but we had to line up the girls at 5:15, it was so darn cold. But our girls did awesome! All 25 of them walked, smiled and waved while singing Christmas songs through our city's down town. We ended at the civic center for free pizza and pop. It was a really good time.
What did you do as a child that you feel guilty about even to this day?
When I was in fifth grade my best friend lived a block away. Once when her family went camping for a week they asked me to feed their cat. I left the basement light on and the wires over heated and burned their house down. I mean BURNED IT DOWN. There were no cell phones back then to even worn them what they were coming home to. They stayed with us for a week and we helped sort through some of the mess before their house was rebuilt.
I know it wasn't really my fault the wiring was bad but I will always feel guilty about leaving that light on.
I just had the best weekend I have had in a long time.
Friday night I opened my daughters report card and it was just about perfect. I am so proud of her. I took her out Saturday morning to pick out a new Webkin as a reward for working so hard are always doing her best. It amazes me how happy those silly stuffed animals make her.
Then my husband and I decided to book a hotel room for Saturday night to celebrate his new job. We had dinner at a really nice restaurant near the hotel then enjoyed a few drinks and laughs in the bar before going in our room, which was really nice with a jacuzzi tub in it. We were happy.
It felt so good to get away and be alone for a whole night again. The evening was just perfect. There was only one thing we both said we would change next time and that is to book the room for two nights so we can really rest up before coming home.
Then yesterday I had a couple of nice quiet hours on the couch with my blanket and my hound before Allison returned from my parents house.
It was a great weekend !
We had a wonderful weekend away. Even the drive was nice, stopping to shop a couple of times. The weather was so nice that we took all of the kids to a pumpkin patch for pumpkins, cider and donuts.
I snapped a ton of pictures that I hope to get posted later tonight. If I have any steam left after our Brownie meeting.
I had the one of the best weekends I have had in along time.
Friday night Margarita night with my sister was a blast. So much fun I am ready to mark another “Friday, Margarita Night” on calendar A.S.A.P.
Saturday morning I had a nice quiet couple of hours and a chance to chill out and get caught up on my DVR’ed shows and my laundry. Saturday afternoon and overnight was spent with my beautiful granddaughter. I can’t believe how much fun we had. She is just the sweetest little thing. She laughs all the time now, big huge laughs that move her whole body and loves tummy time and rolling over all on her own now.
After putting her down for the night Gerry and I finally finished watching the first season of Burn Notice, we were thee episodes behind. Wow, what a fun show. We both really enjoyed it and hope it returns for a second season.
Sunday was Allison’s first Brownie troop field trip, “A Day with my Guy”. Her and her dad spent the day at a camp site fishing and carving pumpkins with about 60 other Brownie girls. Allison came home with a “scariest pumpkin” award and a new patch for her Brownie vest.
While they were gone I spent my time grocery shopping and cleaning out Allison’s room. I took out three trash bags of crap and toys she never even touches any more. I even cleaned out her dresser and weeded out what is too small or out of season. So my girl now has nothing to wear. I really need to take her shopping.
I spent the evening making a nice dinner for every one. It was so nice to have both my girls, my granddaughter and my husband at the table all at the same time.
The perfect way to end a wonderful weekend.
My third grader had her first Brownies meeting tonight. The troop leader seems very nice. I could never do that job. It requires waaaay more pep in your personality then I have. That's for sure.
I am happy just being the mom to bring cookies or to stay and help with the clean up. I'll leave all that pep to the other moms.
I have been surfing around the net for the best deal on a cheap computer for our daughter. She is only eight and half so I am not in any hurry, I am thinking either this Christmas or her next birthday. I know that is still young to have one of her own so I plan on putting the best of parental controls on it and always searching her history for any trouble she might be finding. I don't worry about her so much as I do her little friends that might come over and know more about these things. We'll see.
Can I have a little input please?
Do your kids have their own computers? If so how old are they?
